"This is the same training I run for every preparer in my own offices."

"Form 8867 due diligence isn't about checking a box, it's about protecting your $650 per return per failure and your client's refund. I built this course because I couldn't find one that actually walked through the four requirements the way the IRS expects. - Batrice Allen, Founder, Mastery Tax

WANT TO TRAIN YOUR WHOLE TEAM AT ONCE?

The Same Training. Three Ways to Get It Done.

The self-paced CE course is perfect for solo preparers. But if you have staff, multiple offices, or just learn better with someone walking you through it live, I also offer the same Form 8867 due diligence training on-site, virtually, or as a season-long retainer through my firm Taxes by HER.

Whichever format you pick, you still do the work, this isn't a "we file your forms for you" service. It's the same proven framework delivered as a small-group training, a working file review, or ongoing compliance support so your whole team is audit-ready by January.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions every preparer asks before they enroll. Don't see yours? Email [email protected] and I'll get back to you personally.

Question 1: Is this course really IRS-approved?

Yes. The program is approved for 2.0 hours of continuing education in the Federal Tax Law category under IRS Form 8498. Once you pass the final exam with a score of 70% or higher, your completion is reported to the IRS Return Preparer Office in our next quarterly cycle, and you'll receive a Certificate of Completion that lists the IRS Provider Number and Program Number.

Question 2: Who should take this course?

Other Tax Return Preparers (AFSP participants), Enrolled Agents, and any tax professional who files returns claiming EITC, CTC/ACTC/ODC, AOTC, or Head of Household status. If you're responsible for satisfying the four §6695(g) due diligence requirements on Form 8867, this course is built for you.

Question 3: How long does it take?

Most preparers complete the e-book in about 90 minutes and the 10-question exam in 20 to 30 minutes. You can split it across multiple sessions — your access doesn't expire.

Question 4: How many tries do I get on the exam?

Three attempts per access code, and you need 70% (7 of 10) to pass. If you don't pass on the third try, you can purchase a $25 retake code to unlock three more attempts. The same 10 questions appear each time, shuffled.

Question 5: Do I get the certificate immediately?

Yes. The moment you pass, your personalized Certificate of Completion is emailed to you with your name, PTIN, completion date, score, and the IRS Provider and Program Numbers.

Question 6: What's your refund policy?

You have 3 days from your purchase date to request a full refund, and only if you have not started the final exam. Once the exam is started, the course is considered delivered and refunds are no longer available. To request a refund, email [email protected] with your order number within the 3-day window.

Question 7: Will my completion be reported to my PTIN?

Yes. Mastery Tax is an IRS-approved CE provider and reports all completions to the IRS Return Preparer Office under §10.6(f) of Circular 230. You'll see the credit on your IRS PTIN account in the next reporting cycle.
